The Do‘s & Don’ts of Skincare Travel Habits
The holiday season is the season of travel. It’s also the season your skin going through hell. With the rapid change and climate, temperature, and location, your skin will be going through a lot these next few months. That’s why your skin will be needing the most TLC. We’ve narrowed down the best – and worst – skin care and beauty tips for when you travel!
Even though you aren’t technically outside while traveling in a plane, sunscreen is still one of the best forms of protection for your skin. Protecting it from any element is crucial for preventing damaged skin.
WASH YOUR HANDS AGAIN, AND AGAIN
No one likes germs – and an airplane is full of them! Wash your hands as much as possible and keep some hand sanitizer in your bag. Also, unless you’ve washed your hands, keep them away from your face!
GET TRAVEL-SIZED VERSIONS OF YOUR FAVORITES
This is definitely a no brainer, but we’re just here to remind you to pack your favorites in advance. When packing your skin care bag, make you that you pack the products your normally use in your routine. Your skin will flourish with consistency.
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’D ACTUALLY USE
The best advice anyone can give while you’re traveling is to only pack what you know you’re going to use. Don’t go overboard with your beauty travel bag. Bring what you use on a daily basis!
DON’T USE A MAKEUP WIPE
Makeup wipes are great for quick cleanses, however, using a make up wipe during your travels can dry out your skin faster than normal. Your skin can attract more dirt and pollution while you travel, so double cleansing is a must!
STAY AWAY FROM LONG-WEAR MAKEUP FOR A FLIGHT
Although it might be tempting to wear makeup that will last the entire 12 hour flight, your skin will not like you when you land. Wearing long-lasting makeup in a very dry and airless space will rapidly dehydrate your skin, doing more harm than good. Use a tinted moisturizer instead and apply some trusty lip balm!
NO HEAVY PRODUCTS
Just because you’re traveling, doesn’t mean that your skin needs a more intense routine. Keeping the same routine and using the same products will ensure that your skin doesn’t freak out while you’re away.
NO SHEET MASKS
We know that we might be halting an Instagram tradition, but save your sheet masks for your destination. Using a sheet mask on the plane will only make it dry out faster – which won’t only dry out your skin – but it will also reduce the benefits of the sheet mask itself.
