Whether your skin type is oily or dry, combo or sensitive, having a skincare routine will not only ensure that it stays looking be(you)tiful, but also that it will protect those delicate tissues from the harsh normalities of everyday life. Polluted air conditions, unavoidable stress from work, and even a poor diet can endanger your skin – causing all kinds of issues that nobody wants. The skin is our largest organ, meaning it needs all the attention it can get. Having a consistent skincare routine can sound daunting and expensive to many people. The best part about it however, is that it can be catered to your life, your needs, and most importantly, your skin. Although it might be tempting to splurge on the recommendations of beauty gurus, it comes down to you.
You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on high-end products; rather you should invest in the ones that work for you. There are thousands of skincare products that line the shelves of popular beauty and lifestyle stores that can seem naturally overwhelming, especially when each product does a different thing for your skin at different price tags. To help you out, here’s a basic step-by-step of what the usual skincare routine looks like.
Skin care for me
Step 1: Cleanse – Everyday our skin is exposed to dirt, bacteria, and who know what else. By cleansing your skin everyday, morning and night, if helps unclog those pores and makes your skin feel refreshed, soft, and clean. Properly cleansing your face will ensure that whatever follows goes on smooth.
Step 2: Tone – Although this doesn’t have to be an essential element of your skincare routine, toning does further ensure that your skin is extra clean. Toners however, are great fo those days when you feel like your skin feels more dull than usual. So even though a toner isn’t needed, it doesn’t hurt either.
Step 3: Exfoliate – If you prefer more of a deep-cleaning routine, exfoliators will ensure that any grim and build-up from the day is erased. Exfoliating is also key for removing dead skin which can cause your skin to feel even more lackluster.
Step 4: Moisturize – Hydration is key for your skin to stay looking healthy and plump all day. For all you oily skin types out there, don’t be afraid to moisturize too. Although it may seem that using a moisturizer can produce more oils, it can actually help control them – if you use the right one. It’s important to remember that not all of these products or steps are for everyone or for every skin type. Skin issues such as acne, redness, or wrinkles, can alter what products work for you and which ones don’t. The key is to find a routine that works for you, to stick to it, and be patient. Beautiful skin is a lifelong process. Making the right choices now when it comes to your skin will ensure that it still feels and looks great 30 years from now. When you look good, you feel good. Having a skincare routine helps you put your best face forward, fostering confidence and ensures that your skin is ready for what life throws at it.
