8 Self Care Goals for 2020

New year doesn’t necessarily have to mean new you. However, there’s always room for some kind of growth or improvement. Make this finally be the year of change – get rid of bad habits in favor of healthy ones, treat yourself better than you have, and start telling yourself that you can! The hardest part of achieving any goal or trying something new it starting it. New year, fresh start, same you – but better. Here are 8 Self-Care Goals to achieve in this new decade!

Try Something New

It’s all about the baby steps. Trying something new doesn’t have to be drastic! It could just mean going to bed earlier and drinking tea instead of coffee in the mornings. Making little healthy changes to your lifestyle will equate to a better you in the future.

Write it Down

With the saturation of social media and instant messaging, it’s no surprise that writing in a diary has become a forgotten form of self expression. Scrapbooking or journaling is a great way to reflect on the day and prepare for the next. It’s the perfect de-stressor and the best way to clear your head of unnecessary junk.

Take Care of Your Skin

One of the easiest forms of self-love has to do with how you take care of your skin. This doesn’t necessarily mean having a 20 minute skin care routine. This literally can just mean apply moisturizer. Giving your skin those few seconds or minutes of your day will make you feel more awake and ready for the day. You might even glow from within 🙂

Have an Ultimate Cheat Day

One of the best forms of self-care is the occasional indulging. If you’ve been sticking to a strict diet for a week or starting your days at 5am for a month, reward yourself with a donut or sleep in till 10am! Sometimes being overly strict on yourself can lead to habit breaking faster. Instead, set a goal and a cheat day within that goal so that way you have something to look forward to when you get there.

Break Your Routine

We all want to sleep in or have the same thing for breakfast every morning. Starting your day early will help you get so much done – plus, watching the sunrise is definitely a plus 😉 Routines aren’t set in stone, so don’t be afraid to change things up in order to find what works.

Use a Sick Day, Just Because

Mental health is one of the most important aspects of being. Without strength of mind, days seem longer and the world seems like it’s working against you. Don’t be afraid to call out from work or classes in order to rejuvenate yourself. There’s no sense in working when your mind is restless.

Celebrate Small Victories

Although we might be spend our days running million dollar tech companies and advocating from climate change, that doesn’t mean that the things we do accomplish in a day are worthless. Checking off to-do’s or even getting out of bed everyday is worthy of self-praise. Being alive is such a taken-for-granted aspect of human nature, so it’s time we start feeling proud of our baby steps.

Leave Work at Work

This year, find the balance within your life. If you work a 9-5, that means you work until 5. Tomorrow is a new day with new challenges and brighter successes. That email can wait. If you go to school, set aside a healthy amount of time to do homework. Take breaks for dinner or family game night. Don’t run your mental health into the ground by choosing work over sleep. You’d do yourself no favors.

Step into your best skin with the best moisturizer of the decade!
