10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine
We know what you’re thinking. 10 steps is quite a bit, especially when you only have 10 minutes to get ready. Although this routine isn’t for everyone, this is guaranteed to give you the best results. It’s important to take the time to take care of your skin. Taking care of it now will lead to less stress in the future and prevent those pesky fine lines. If you’ve ever been curious about how the Koreans have such amazing skin, here’s the reasons why!
Step One: Oil Cleanser
Oil-based cleansers remove makeup and toxins from the surface of your skin. Apply on a dry face and rinse off with lukewarm water.
Step Two: Foam Cleanser
Koreans are all about the double-cleanse. Follow up your oil cleanser with a foaming one to give your skin that extra bit of freshness. Rub the foam onto your skin using gentle circular motions to remove all remaining impurities.
Step Three: Exfoliant
Exfoliators help remove dead skin cells from the skins’ surface and also help to increase blood flow and remove dead skin. We recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week. Exfoliating more than they will strip your skin of its natural oils and do more harm than good.
Step Four: Toner
Most people don’t realize that a toner is a crucial step when it comes to detoxing and purifying your skin. Toners help to hydrate and increase absorption of the following steps in your routine. Toners are best applied with a cotton pad.
Step Five: Essence
Considered the holy grail of Korean skin care, essences are watery lotions full of beneficial ingredients. Much like a facial oil, this is product applies best with your fingers. If you aren’t sure is essences will work for your skin, try out a sample!
Step Six: Serum
If essences aren’t your thing, serums are the next best. They are highly concentrated formulas that help address specific skin concerns. Gently massage the serum into the skin with your fingers and let it absorb into the skin for a few minutes before continuing to the next step. There are different serums depending on your skin type and needs, so make sure you’re using the right one!
Step Seven: Facial Oil
Facial oil is an extremely versatile product. It can be used on it’s own after you apply your serum, but it can also be added to your favorite moisturizer for added hydration. It’s totally up to you! Facial oils are deeply nourishing and are commonly made from nutrient-richer plants, flowers, and fruits. Apply 2-3 drops and gently massage into your skin using your fingertips or your favorite gemstone roller.
Step Eight: Eye Cream
A must-not-skip step in any skin care routine is eye cream. Apply a pea-sized amount of product directly under your eyes using your ring finger. Your ring finger the the most gentle of all your fingers. Make sure to apply as little pressure as possible, especially because the skin underneath your eyes is very delicate. Don’t forget to show some love to those eyelids too!
Step Nine: Moisturizer
Consider this the ultimate step to locking and protecting your skin from the day or night. Moisturizers do wonders from enhancing hydration, tackling skin concerns, and giving your skin a layer of freshness.
Step Ten: SPF or Sleeping Mask
We’ve reached the 10th and final step in this elaborate, yet effective, skin care routine. Before you step out of the house and into the sun’s rays. Apply a generous layer of SPF. Make sure that you allow enough time for the moisturizer to settle before applying SPF. At night instead of applying SPF, use a hydrating sleeping mask. Your skin can get the most dehydrated overnight, so using a product that will help it retain moisture will give your skin the best morning glow!
